The helium level was measured at 49% instead of 50%. All other tests were within specs. This week a new headcoil was installed. I compared the rdc, drift, snfr of the 3mm Agar of the old and new coil and I compared the 32 channels. The values of the new coil compared to the old one are comparable to better.

32-channel test

The measurements of the new 32-channel headcoil are higher than the mean of previous measurements and higher than the old coil measurement. Some measurements of the individual channels are near the old coil and previous measurements, while others are better. Channel 9 is one of the channels that has been decreasing over the weeks and has sometimes been found to be lower than specs, the new coil did much better on this channel.

The mean (standard deviation) of the means of the signal-to-noise ratio of the 32 channels (N=29) is 113.63 (4.04). The mean signal-to-noise ratio of the old coil measured this quality control is 112.38. This is .31 std dev lower than the mean. The mean signal-to-noise ratio of the new coil measured this quality control is 120.04. This is 1.59 std dev higher than the mean and 1.90 higher than the old coil.

The mean (standard deviation) of the signal-to-noise ratio of channel 9 (N=29) is 83.56 (4.31). The mean signal-to-noise ratio of channel 9 of the old coil measured this quality control is 83.77. This is .05 std dev higher than the mean. The mean signal-to-noise ratio of channel 9 of the new coil measured this quality control is 96.88. This is 3.09 std dev higher than the mean and 3.04 higher than the old coil.

Agar 3mm

The Agar 3mm measurements of the new coil are lower than the mean values (N=33) and lower than the values of the old coil. However the values are well within range. Also the previous values have not been decreasing.

The mean (standard deviation) signal-to-noise ratio of the 3mm Agar of the measurement before this quality control is605.96 (87.95). The signal-to-noise ratio of the old coil measured this quality control is 607.09. This is .01 std dev higher than the mean. The signal-to-noise ratio of the new coil measured this quality control is 575.31. This is .35 std dev lower than the mean and .36 lower than the old coil.

The mean (standard deviation) rdc of the 3mm Agar of the measurement before last quality control are 2.42 (.25). The rdc of the old coil measured this quality control is 2.79. This is 1.50 std dev higher than the mean. The rdc of the new coil measured this quality control is 2.45. This is .12 std dev lower than the mean and 1.39 lower than the old coil.

The mean (standard error) drift of the 3mm Agar of the measurement before last quality control are -1.47*10^-4 (7.25*10^-5) The drift of the old coil measured this quality control is .002. This is .94 std dev higher than the mean. The drift of the new coil measured this quality control is .002. This is .81 std dev lower than the mean and 1.75 lower than the old coil.

One scan, despite the number of dynamics, gives one qpi value. All other tests were within specs. A new folder was added in the Quality Control folder on bigbrother fMRIprojects regarding additional information. From time to time new files will be added with information on something that was noticed but unclear during quality control. I added a short text on 'unwanted program policy' of the McAfee virusscanner.

Week 29 oktober to 6 november Six qpi value have been measured between 1 and 10. No qpi values have been measured above 10. In this week 686 qpi values have been measured. One scan, despite the number of dynamics, gives one qpi value. All other tests were within specs. The batteries which ran empty quickly last week have worked fine this week.

Week 23 to 29 oktober Two qpi value have been measured between 1 and 10. No qpi values have been measured above 10. All other tests were within specs. Two batteries ran empty very quick, attention will be payed to this, perhaps new batteries will be ordered soon.

Week 17 to 23 oktober Two qpi value has been measured between 1 and 10. No qpi values have been measured above 10. All other tests were within specs. Beamer gave a first warning that the light needs to be replaced. The beamer works fine, a new light will be placed soon.

Week 9 to 16 oktober Ten qpi value has been measured between 1 and 10. No qpi values have been measured above 10. All other tests were within specs.

15 october Monthly calibration of system.

Week 2 to 9 oktober One qpi value has been measured between 1 and 10. No qpi values have been measured above 10. All other tests were within specs.

week 25 september to 2 oktober Two qpi values were measured between 1 and 10. No qpi values were measured above 10. In comparison to previous weeks we will now only present the amount of qpi deviations (instead of the values) between 1 and 10, 10 and 50, 50 and 200. And only present the specific values when over 200. Because small values bear no problems and are therefore uninformative, however the number of deviations do bear information. Values above 200 might bear problems in the form of artefacts and are therefore presented. All other tests were within specifications.

28 september The DWI phantom has arrived. This makes it possible to improve DWI sequences with a quantitative evaluation (vs eyeballing) and to implement a quantitative quality control for the DWI sequences. Implementation will be over the next couple of weeks.

weeks 11 september to 25 september Seven minder QPI deviations (2.509; 1.801; 19.423; 1.204; 1.252; 3.247; 1.670) have been measured. All other tests were within specifications.

22 september Replacement of CDAS panel and Multi-transmit panel.

15 september Quarterly periodic maintenance. The system passed the extended testing protocol of Philips. However, one of the boards of the CDAS will be replaced in the coming weeks from a prospective maintenance perspective.

13 september The system has been re-calibrated. This solves the eddy current artifacts observed in some of the DWI scans in the last weeks of august. We will now re-calibrate the system on a monthly basis the prevent these types of problems in the future. The Sense 3 DWI scans still show some eddy current distortions. Inspection of old data revealed that this has always been the case and is a limitation of the system itself.

Week 4 to 11 september Two very minor QPI deviations have been measured (1.055; 1.013). All other tests were within specifications.

28 of August to 4 of September Three minor QPI deviations (10.705; 1.666; 1.057) have been measured. All other test were within specifications. The SNR values of all channels in the headcoil were good. It seems that last week was probably a small deviation within normal range. The meeting with technical personal from Philips has been postponed for a week.

22 to 28 of August Seven minor QPI deviations (6.162; 2.236; 2.136; 3.099; 1.560; 1.631; 3.632) have been measured. 4 of the 32 channels in the headcoil showed a minor drop in signal to noise ratio, however we didn't find any qualitative artefacts. During last week we found some artefacts in DTI scans.

Weeks 7 to 21 of August Five minor QPI deviations (1.521; 1.087; 2.112; 1.577; 1.854) have been measured. All other tests were within specifications.

Week 31 of July to 6 of August One QPI deviations of 0.697 was measured. All other tests were withing specifications. The batteries for the eyetracker have arrived. They will be installed permanently into the setup during the month of august. QPI values will again be monitored on a weekly basis (vs. a daily basis).

Week 24 to 30 of july During 1 measurement QPI deviations were measured. The values were around 2. No further measures are taken at this time but QPI values will be tracked on a daily basis. A new 32-channel headcoil has arrived and the sensors have been tested and were within specifications. All other tests were within specifications.

Week 17 to 23 of july During 3 measurements QPI deviations were measured. During the most extreme sessions the values were around 20. All QPI deviations were present during eyetrack recordings. The wire feeding the eyetracker with electricity is not MRI compatible and we decided to order MRI batteries for this device. No further measures are taken at this time but QPI values will be tracked on a daily basis. All other tests were within specifications.
