Development of novel MRI methods

My general research goal is to develop novel clinical MRI methods. This entails the design of new MRI sequences for clinical use, their technical and clinical validation and ultimately advising on their clinical utilisation. MRI research in the Amsterdam UMC currently focuses on neuromuscular (vessel wall imaging, arterial spin labeling) and muscular (DTI) imaging. The applied MR physics group is committed to substantially decreasing the MRI scanning time in comparison to the current standards and is doing so for both 3T and 7T MRI scanners. This research is conducted in close collaboration with the departments of Vascular Medicine, Oncology, Hematology, Neurology and Biomedical Engineering and Physics in the Amsterdam UMC.
