Building the Amsterdam neuroimaging core
My research involves acquisition and analysis methods for 7 Tesla (functional) MRI. Besides my research activities I am closely involved in the building process of the new Spinoza Centre building, mediating between architect and end users. Also, I coordinate the setup of computing and data storage facilities and development of the Centre's website, among others.
Brain imaging using ultra-high field MRI
7 Tesla MRI offers great advantages for measuring human brain function at high resolution. To fully exploit its potential, several challenges need to be addressed such as increased sensitivity to and physiologic fluctuations. I focus on implementing and validating methods to minimize these factors using a combination of data acquisition and analysis techniques. This work is done in collaboration with the Gorter Center of the Leiden University Medical Center. In addition, I support researchers at 3T that wish to try new imaging techniques such as quantitative anatomical imaging or MR spectroscopy.
